About Us

What We Do… Being avid collectors of postcards, we treat them with respect. Every purchase we make, usually in bulk, provides us with a broad spectrum of topics, genres and choices. We generally list under topographical where possible, as these prove to be very popular. Spanning social and geographical history, takes time to sort, and we are sometimes guilty of looking rather than listing! It’s fascinating to pore over the changes to our cities, towns and villages, sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but that is progress.

We describe each postcard as accurately as possible, ensuring that the reader can both see the scans/photos and get a glimpse, a feel for the type of item they are browsing. Personally speaking, the reverse sides are often the most appealing to us! Collectable publishers, long established logos, skilled use of typeface and design, all play their part. As for the messages, we read them all! That is to say where they are legible! They provide a snapshot of people’s journeys, holidays and instructions, conveyed, often in a very personal nature to the addressee. A postman’s life was surely more interesting in the old days…. Some of the methods, sometimes in code or shorthand reveal the tricks used by the sender, to limit Posties curiosity. They can be very amusing and we hope to feature these in our upcoming blogs.

What We Don’t Do… First and foremost, we do not list postcards as being old, rare, scarce or mint, when clearly they are not. In many respects, postcards are generally plentiful, it is right for both the casual or discerning buyer, to expect items to be described by condition as well as year, and for the seller to point out the less obvious faults to the buyer. Where stamps and franking marks are not clear we will say so, and describe Real Photos only when…..they are real photos.

Still on subject, we do not enhance, edit or project scans at high resolution, mainly to discourage copying, hotlinking or lifting of images. These days, we are all adept at digitally taking and altering images, but rest assured, the oldschool skills of the postcard publishers are much appreciated here. To this extent, the images are as scanned or photographed.

While we have got your attention, why not check out the sidebar pages, where we list postcards, by publisher, decades, undivided backs, and so on. Why not travel back a hundred or more years, and make a start here? Follow this link: Antique postcards.

We believe that our prices are fair and have resisted the use of making profits through ‘enhanced’ shipping fees. Look out for our special promotions, where we sometimes feature free shipping within the United Kingdom. Lastly, rest assured that what we describe is what you will get, and on this basis we trade on a no quibble money back refund, if you are less than happy with you purchase.
