Brighton West Pier 1906 Postcard, from the very collectable Ross Series. In very good order for the year.Brighton West Pier built in 1863, by Eugenius Birch, an engineer, opening in 1866, at a cost of £27,000. Extended pierhead and large pavilion erected in 1893, used as Concert Hall, with 1400 seats.In WW2, pier was closed, cut in two to prevent an enemy landing. The structure has been closed to the public since 1975, then in 2003 it suffered intense damage due to an arson attack. Message on reverse to an addressee in Cambridge Street Brighton.
