R.M.S. Horontes. In service from around 1929-1962. Starting life with a mediterranean cruise, and sailing the England to Australia route up to the Second World War. Throughout this time taking world war prisoners between Melbourne and Germany. Had a major refit during the early 1950’s as a passenger ship. Survived a collision with SS Empire Baltic and was eventually decommissioned in Spain. Owned by P & O Orient Line, and built by Vickers Armstrong Ltd. at Barrow In Furness. Postcard mailed in 1948 from London, to an addressee in, Little Malvern Worcestershire. This fine sepia toned offering, has survived intact in good condition.
