Athlone Castle Royal Mail Vintage Postcard. Built by Harland & Wolf, in November 1935. First mail service by The Union Castle was from Southampton to Cape Town. Also served as a troop ship, before eventually being scrapped in 1965 at Kaohsiung.Sender notes having a very good send off by the family, and having a v.nice cabin. On their way to Cape Town, this postcard was stamped at Southampton. Postcard is in very clean condition throughout, sent to an addressee in St. Leonards Sussex.
