Description

R.M.S. Aquitania. Launched on 21st May 1913, and built by, John Brown Clydebank Scotland. During the First World War (1914-18), it was converted to an auxilliary cruiser, then later a hospital ship and troop carrier. Up until 1947, used as troop transport.and was fondly remembered as “The Old Reliable” and “The Ship Beatiful”. Finally in 1950, went to the ship scrapyard in the sky, via Faslane Scotland.Notice the four funnels! Real Photo Postcard, with front header at base caption which reads: Cunard White Star No.S.20226.Minor fold to top left crease. Reverse shows posting from Southampton, in 1949, together with a banner line reading: British Industry Fair 2nd-13th May 1949 Birmingham.
